Heads up for all of you guys who have been looking for a pair of Altec 846 series speakers.

It's a shame that these were veneered in that ugly walnut veneer, because the unfinished birch is gorgeous!

Well - I won't be bidding, already have a pair.

I would double check if you bid and only do a local pickup. Their feedback stinks.

I would venture to guess they will get $700-$1000, but who knows - maybe they will go for cheaper.

I asked for additional pictures without the grilles, so lets see if that happens.

Thank you for listening - :p

Shame they're not closer. I'd have all the bases covered then :)

Geez -

eBay should have the requirement of a written test on how to write a title, description, and know how to take pictures.

I am shocked - well, kind of not after looking at their feedback - that they did not take a picture of the grilles off.

Wonder who will take a chance. Just like that other pair a while back - someone could have removed the woofers, replaced them, or even worse - the drivers might be bad.

I asked if they were working and they did not give a yes or no.

I wouldn't take a chance - but thats just me.

Is it just me, or are their communication skills not that great, either?

for the right price, I would take rebuildable ALtec transducers over aftermarket swapped, working "perfect" ones any day of the week....

that is, unless they threw some ALEs or TADs (you get the drift) in the boxes....

I can't believe the price they are at right now - $440.00. Good deal, but still have no clue what is behind those grilles.

Is JBLSKRS - the top bidder, a member of this forum? It is kind of funny that his ID is JBL, but he bids on Altec. Coicendence, I think not. :)

Yeah, but $250 shipping charge?? I sold a pair of JBL 4312A Monitors (big & heavy), packed them in 1" foam and built heavy cardboard boxes for them and shipped them from VA to CA for less than $150 - thats an extra $100 profit on shipping, quite a nice fee I'd say.

I believe the shipping charge. I have a pair of them and they are MONSTERS.

I just wish this seller could tell us what is inside them. For all they know, there could be nothing.

No wonder why their feedback stinks - apparently they only care about the buck and not the customer.

I would have considered buying these had the seller responded w/ a list of components and condition. $750 shipped for these speakers is a killer deal. Let's just hope they know how to ship them properly

I would have bid also, but they did not let me know what was in them.

Aside from shipping, lets just hope the components are what they should be.

I paid $900 for mine, so that is a steal - however that crappy veneer job kills em'.
