I can't imagine any of the patterns being "right" for the application.

The horns I'm showing are 70° x 70°.

Never tried "pushing" 2450 HF, but from experience with 2452H-SL, that might work with SL diaphragm.

Earl K's done it, I think, with acceptable results....

I think this thread predates JBL's Array 1400 ?? which was a real departure for JBL I must say.

I suppose Zilch was referring to me using 2450SL diaphragms all the way up into the HF // but I really don't remember listening to any of my horns vertically arrayed ( as seen in the first pic ) as far back as 2006 ( mind you my memory is definitely fading these days ).

OTOH, I am currently listening to a QSC 152i horn ( actually an NLA clone made by PRV ) situated on it's vertical axis.
I've been trying out a range of smaller format drivers to see if any might supplant my aging Altec 288-8K's ( thinking of future down-sizing ) .

( & Somewhat ) as expected the results are very good ( from an imaging and response perspective ).

Here's another QSC 152i clone ( oemed for B52 ) and available from Parts Express ( until stock is gone ).

These waveguides/horns are truly the bargain of the century ( IMHO ) .

Featuring:
- decent loading to just about 1K
- sport, great polars!
- sized correctly to give smooth FR with a minimum of pass band ripple ( negating the need of LCR notch filters )

For the DIYer using 15's;

This horn with the Lansing co. driver of your choice ( Altec or JBL ) oriented in the horizontal ( over a 15" ) will give a lifetime of listening pleasure.

For the DIYer using 14's;

No pics to show ( still in R&R mode ) but suffice it to say that with ones preferred ( small format ) Lansing driver of choice / with the waveguide oriented vertically atop a JBL le14 this combo will offer a lifetime of good listening ( assuming one appreciates imaging ).
