Can anyone tell me what the frequency range is of the 034 tweeter that is used in the L46 speaker? Alternately, what is the frequency range of the L46? I'm trying to see how high they are good for.

I've searched the forum with no luck on this. The Tech Sheet doesn't mention frequency range for the L46.

I looked a little harder in the forum and found my answer:

Hello,

The 034 is the plastic version of the cast aluminum 044. It was used in the L15, L46, L56, and L86 systems. The 035Ti is the plastic version of the cast aluminum 044Ti and it is used in numerous Pro and Consumer systems.

The 034/044 used phenolic diaphragms coated with aluminum and they are "good" to ~ 15 kHz and ~ 18 kHz respectively. The 035Ti/044Ti used titanium diaphragms and are "good" to ~ 25 kHz and ~ 28 kHz respectively. The difference in response is supposed to be due to the plastic versions having ~ 1/2 pound less magnetic material.

I have 033’s in my L150’s, but looking at the L150 tech sheet it says 034 as a replacement. My 033’s work fine and I like them but when I saw a pair of 034’s for cheap I figured I’d get them to experiment with or worst case as a spare.

I look forward to taking pictures and telling you guys what I think once they arrive. The only downside is that these 034’s are missing the wire grill, but from my quick research it seems it doesn’t make a huge difference. We’ll see.

What should I expect from the 034's vs. the 033's?

Well this should be interesting for a while. The 033’s were a real bitch to get out, like they had a thin layer of glue holding them in or something. My initial reaction after listening to it after swapping them out is that it sounds about the same. I haven’t had it loud yet though, so maybe that is where the differences will show themselves. I like being able to play with new drivers without having to make any permanent modifications :)
