I have been looking for a tweeter upgrade for my 2-way Foster driver spheres. so far my alternatives include these, the Fountek NeoCD2, and the new Scandianvian ring tweeters.
the tweets are Foster's 35mm soft domes with a 3rd order HP, and an Fs trap at 1.1 K. set @ 3.5k. Much listening by the listening panel way back when.
No LP on the mid woofer which rolls off nicely itself (FW202), just Z-rise Rand C across it plus a nichrome wire as a damping R.
I would like to go even simpler with a 1st order tweeter, just one good cap, plus an in line L-pad.
I have posted more details - e.g. about flush mounting them - under Widget's 'ring radiator review' thread.
my tweeter amp is 6 watts only of Leak pp EL84 triode-mode power, currently input RC filtered @175 hz, and am happy to take that up to ~ 875 hz max.
So, ...... can I get away with a 1st order @ 3.5k cap on these tweeters?
IF I can find a pair, that is!!!!
No, I don't listen that loud, except on occasion. And I hate the sound of clipping which occures on 108db peaks!
So they ain't gonnA see a lot of WATTS.
TIA
