Ok for lack of better title I have two 2235's in cabs tuned at 30hz for subs. Now I have a couple choices for amps in my price range until I can upgrade to better quality or sized amps. One is a Philips 5781 200 watts per channel amplifier. I also can get a Bryston 470 Professional series (half a 4B) monoblock and run my subs mono.

Any thoughts pros...cons.... ??

Thanks

Just a thought!
I would run your subs in stereo if they are for music. If they are dedicated for HT then a mono sub would work fine.

The Crown amp company from Indiana IMO makes some good amps. I am fond of the K series, the K1 and K2. These can be bought for $600 and up. Damping factor of like 2000 [see the heritage posts on damping factors].

Yes ugly, but [historicly] bomb-proof, run under water, use as welders etc. and NO FANS. Works for me! The baby K1 in mono will do 700 watts @ 8ohms all night long, no fuss no muss no excess heat, no hum, did I mention no fan noise?
