Hello,

Do you own or have you listened to the MPC 200 or MPC 300? Will you tell me about the sound? My only proaudio experience is with Crown DC300 and Crown Studio Reference. How do they compare to these?

I am considering buying them for a school auditorium or perhaps for home use. They would be used with my Tent Sale 4648As and possibly with tent sale 2123 which I am also thinking of buying.

Thanks for your advice.

Regards, Tom P.

They're great amps! Before you buy, be aware that these amps are 220v and 230v AC amps. You would have to modify them to 110v. I'm sure one of the techies that lurk around here could tell you how that can be done. Good Luck!

I bought a 230V MPA600 from the Tent Sale. The MPA series are not the same as the MPC but I would assume that they are somewhat similar in their approach to changing voltages.

The hardest part was getting the information from JBL. While the amp's schematics are on the JBLPROSERVICE web site they do not include the variations in the power supplies. You have to speak to someone at Technical Support who specializes in amps. Once I found the right person, I had him fax me the info and it was a matter of moving about six internal jumpers.

Has anyone used these amps for home use?

I use the MPA 600 in my home theater on the subs. It goes boom in a big way. I haven't actually critically listened to it or compared it to any of my other amps.

I bought one from JBL dog a few months back for my passive sub. It kicked but! It worked effortlesly and ran cool. I never tried it in the stereo mode however but I'm sure it will do just fine.
