The close association between the Wolf office and so many
of JBL's products sometimes made it appear that the loudspeaker company was
Wolf's only client. Happily, the office grew steadily during the 1960s,
reaching its peak size of five employees by 1967. Other clients during this
period included the Veriflo Corporation (medical equipment), TimeShare
Corporation (modems), Voycall (intercoms), The Atomic Energy Commission
(exhibits), Qantel Computers, and the Pacific Coast Engineering Company (PACECO).
This last organization was responsible for the development of highly
specialized dockside cranes designed to handle containerized cargoes. The
patented innovative engineering of these giant machines gradually saw their
introduction at virtually every major seaport in the world and they continue
in use today. In addition to the cranes, Arnold Wolf Associates (Darrel
Lauer, staff designer) supplied human factors and form studies for other
PACECO projects such as harbor dredges and also created a new corporate
identity program.
