altered 4345 procrastination

Hi all. Thanks so much again for your truly priceless input. I have not by any means abandoned this project. I assure you your effort on my behalf will not be in vain. I've gone over recent threads regarding the 2245H and am hoping you'll indulge me a little further. I've acquired a pair of 2235 and thinking to incorporate them in a kind of L7 configuration where the 2245s face each other while the 2235, 2206, 2390, and 2405 are forward facing. Roughly 50"H X 22"W X 24"D. This is my question, can the 2245 and 2235 live together in the same cab volume? If so, how to calculate port volume/length. 2245 cut off at say 50hz. Could it be worthwhile or should I just stay with original plan? Sure would look good.

Wow those are the same drivers I'm using in the system I'm building but I'm not using the 2235. I'm using the 2245, 2206, 2446 and 2405 crossed over at 80/1000/8000 or there about... I'll be buying the TruExtent diaphragms for the 2446's.


I wouldn't recommend trying to share the cabinet space between two dissimilar drivers, especially the 2245. It moves so much air that it might just destroy the 2235. Even if it didn't, do you want the internal sound waves to influence the movement of either cone? I wouldn't.

Think of the 4345/4343/4341 Monitors. The 10" mid-bass driver is in its own self-contained "Dog-box" so the pressure from the main woofer does not contaminate its output. If you used the 15 and the 18 in the same cabinet, you'd still want each to have its own contained volume to work in - and with just the 18" wanting 12 cubic foot (see the cabinet details for the JBL 18" sub systems), and still needing a big self-contained space for the 15 to work in, you'd be talking some massive boxes ...

Not impossible, just a real-space consideration for you ...

Well that's just my question. How would they influence each other. Are they that different? T/S parameters are similar. I'm thinking about bass definition. Ian and the others put together a recipe for me a while ago. I'll use Mini-DSP for crossover. BTW I'm using 2441/2309/2310. Originally, would be essentially a 4345 on steroids. As far as crossover points are concerned, 2245 at 290, 2206 at around 800 and 2441 at about 9500. Looking forward to seeing yours on completion...and mine.

Hi Heather. That's just it, the space. I want them all in one cab, tilted back for time alignment with the 2441 at ear height. What makes the L7s work? Not that I've listened to those. However I have a pair of L5s which seem to evoke a bit more reverence out there. I use them with a pair of Velodyne DPS12 subs. Heck I use the Velodynes with everything I have, even the Kappa 9s. They are fabulous down to 30hz but you don't really feel them. I have enough gear to make me lazy so it's been easy to procrastinate. I'll just go with the original plan if the 2235s won't work. It'd be awesome if it did though.
