Mac I guess I need to go to SpecSavers LOL its for spare parts sigh I thought it was for whole brand new amp that’s been discontinued? Sorry my mistake for not going to SpecSavers.

You going for the whole stack, or are you giving it some thought? £300.00 is damn good deal. Think of all the KW you wouldn’t use in small room unless you want to go totally stone deaf! Just think of the extra miles of headroom on the amps!

Don’t let these Crown amps of thousand star systems slip though your fingers.

Since I will not be able to make a physical assesment of these amps would I be correct in assuming that if the protection relays click in after switch on then all is well ?

That has been my experience with the CT series. (Take that with as many grains of whatever you like!) That and they sound really nice...

From listening to the relays on my Alesis RA300 I would say so if I didn’t hear them click off after a few seconds of switching them on I’d be checking to see what’s up.

I can see you’re being diligent as the price is low for x9 and could be they are shot away or maybe in good Nick and the guy just doesn’t want them for some reason?

Offer the guy £450.00 and see if he’ll post them at reasonable courier delivery for all x9. I had to get chap to post my laserdisc player when it was for (pick up only) and he managed to post it off for £12.00 where most where changing a cheeky price of £30.00 or more.

If I had £300.00 I’d buy them before you can but I’m not interested so go for it Mac best deal you might see this year.

Buy it before the guy changes his mind and puts the price up or then again he might drop the price £250.00?

I concurr. If they enter "ready state" usually you can assume all is well.
I've seen exceptions but that's what they were.... exceptions

When purchasing a power amp remotely, asking for the protection relay to kick-in is about all I can expect as a test.

Comms were sorted out Rich. I picked them up today and relay clicked in on all 9. Two of them had really noisy fans, opened them up when I got home and fans were fully of dust. Cleaned them and no noise.

Shall test them tomorrow, believe they will all work.

The first thing I do when purchasing used amps is to open the lid and vacuum them, using a brush to move the dust.

You brought them! How comes they’re still listed for sale?

So they worked out fine for S/H £300.00 I guess you can’t grumble about.

Looks like Mac blew that chance away I guess he was too busy hanging up rugs.

Indeed. And thanks to everyone who pitched in with info and general leg up. We got a nice deal and the seeler got the asking price and everyone is happy. Some piccies will follow I'm sure.

Mine are going in a rack with a Behringer cx 3400 and some patching to make a versatile power unit for my PA , Huge is doing something nice with some 2245's
