Need help identifying drivers in JBL L88's

I just bought a pair of JBL L88 Speakers. Someone has put replacement JBL woofers in in the cabinets and I can't figure out what they are. They are 12" of course, cast aluminum frame with 4 webs, black coated ribbed cone with a ribbed cloth surround. It looks like a 3" voice coil. It weighs 9 lbs and has a black crinkle finish on the magnet cover. The only numbers I can find are "4417" printed on the back frame web and 21005? on the cone. Where the back cover was glued on, there is a "JBL" impression stamped in the adhesive. Any ideas?
Also, I was wanting to verify that they still had the original tweeters, LE20-1 ??

    Any help would be appreciated.
I am trying to attach photos.

They look like 123A-1s but with black aquaplas and no "JBL signature" logo in the back... maybe a commercial version?
My avatar: 4520 loaded with 2225H on E140 frames,
    1x 2202H on custom front loaded horn, 2x 2426 on 2370.

IFIRC the original L88 woofer didn't have the white aquaplas treatment. Why do you say the woofers have been changed?

Looks stock. The JBL in the red "adhesive" is a wax seal over a screwhead, iirc...
Would show signs of tampering if the driver was disassembled.
And that black ring around the tweeter being intact, also makes
it appear to me that the system was not molested.

I thought that the woofers had been changed since all other photos of L88 cabinets had the white cones and tags on the back of the speaker. These woofers look like brand new. Between those observations, I thought someone had replaced the original. I would be tickled if they are the originals.

I think there were 3 (?) versions of the L88 ....mine looked like this pic...do you have a full photo of the ones in question ?

a bit later: techbot listings shows 5 versions:
    L88 Nova
    L88 Plus
    L88 Plus-A
    L88-1 Cortina
    L88A

    Hey Wolf,
Could you track down your links again? They seem to be broken.
    Thanks

Those look like the original black aquaplased woofers.

Mine look just like the photo from Robh3606, the one on the right. It has the pin type clips holding the grill on. So what does"aquaplased" mean?

a trade name for an anti-resonant coating (often white, or a bit yellowed with age)
on a fair number of mostly older JBL woofer types.
