    Note to Harman/JBL

And yes, you can sign me up to be one of the first US purchasers, especially if Timbers and Ashcraft are leading the team. If you need a deposit, I'll send it right over. Let's see, 20% of $8,000 is $1,600, 20% of $10,000 is $2,000, and 20% of $15,000 is $3,000.

Let me know what you need.

They're not domes, but the LS would fill that time slot.
And lets not forget the TL260, a re-make of the 250Ti

The LS Series is fine, I'm sure, but it doesn't fill any time slot I'm interested in. Where's the big woofer? Where's the time alignment? Where's the advanced crossover?

You definitely have to wink about the TL260, because it's.. well, you know why not.

The DD66000 as a successor to the DD55000 and as a step up from the K2 S9800 is clear in its lineage and its advancement. Neither the LS Series nor the TL260 can make any credible claim to succeed and exceed the L250/250Ti.

Yes, I was having some fun addressing the 260, but with the LS who really knows, not many, if any in NA.
No telling if I auditioned the LS, would I think its better than the PS, or not as good. No way of knowing w/o an audition.

But with the sales #s of both the DD66000, and K2 s9900, JBL should have plenty of profit to come up with new ideas.

    Question

    hello!

this sartuday i had the chance to listen to the everest on a hifi-fair in munich.
im sorry to say that the rooms of the building where the fair took place were acoustically so bad that every bigger speaker/system exhibitet played far beyond its potential -so did the everest. about 4o minutes of listening brought me closer to the giants, but i still couldnt grasp them (sonically).
sad on one hand, but nice to touch and feel these great speakers on the other.

here only a few pictures of the fair (thats not the listening room):

    cheers,
    mikey

Since then AUDIO has used the DD66000 as reference for passiv speakers.

Does this imply that the diaphragm comes from an outside supplier ?

No... he's simply stating what the part cost is to the factory. He is very much a part of the "price points" process. JBL is quite proud of their Be diaphragms (and "non-toxic" unlike the TAD's).

The 435Be, 476Mg and 476Be diaphragms are not available as separate items. These drivers are considered "throw-aways" when damaged and are replaced with new complete units. JBL does not currently re-work these drivers. That doesn't imply that they might in the future.

The only Be diaphragm available from JBL that I know of is the 2435HPL diaphragm at $756 from JBL Pro Parts. This diaphragm is not aquaplased like the 435Be diaphragm. The difference is noteworthy.

I've done a number of google searches for the everest and have found quite a few reviews. Both from professional reviewers and people who were fortunate enough to have auditioned the everest in Japan and at the '07 CES.

So have JBL found an isotope of Be that is non-toxic?
