Red face JBL 2122H recone kit and JBL E110 basket

    Hello,
I have a question for the experts here and need some help. I looking for components for my JBL 4345 build. I have already got the 2245H 18" woofers and will be reconed soon. So hopefully the hardest component/s to find so far is done. Next up is the search for the 2122H but I have seen very few for sale. I will be looking next month to purchase a pair of 2122H for my project.

Since they are hard to find and worst case scenario, could a 2122H recone kit work with the JBL E110 basket/magnet with the same results and sound of the JBL 2122H speaker? I hear that the magic to the 4345 speaker is that 2122H 10" driver and the "Charged Coupled" Xover. I will keep looking for the original JBL 2122H and hopefully there are some when I'm ready to buy them.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Lansing Heritage!

The E110 basket and motor are in every way identical to the 2122.

Projects like this are fun! Don't forget to share your progress with us.

    All the best,
    Barry.
If we knew what the hell we were doing, we wouldn't call it research would we.

    Hi Drummerboy2,
May be You can use 2202 instead of 2122,
    and 2441 (2446, 2450) & 2311 & 2308 instead of 2420 &2307 &2308

    all the best

I'm in the process of building a pair also and you aren't going to find the 2122's, I don't think you will last that long. You can recone the E110's with the 2122 recone kit (also hard to find) or you can use the 2123H. I don't think you will notice any difference except with some measuring equipment.

Looking at 4315B's 4345 build thread I find that for his use of the 2123 and large format treble driver he chose the redrawn 4355 network because the rising response of the 2202 was a better match to the 2123.

    Hi Barry,
Thank You for the info. If I can now find a 2122H recone kit then I can do that if it comes to that point. One of the other members suggested the 2123 in place of the 2122H. I will look into that as well.

I will keep you posted on my progress with this build.

    Thanks again.

Thank You for this info, I will keep this in mind as I gather the parts. looks like I may have to go with the JBL 2123. Just hope it sounds the same and has the same efficiency as the 2122H.

Thank you for the info. Hopefully I can get lucky with finding the 2122H when I'm ready to buy. I wonder if Kenrick Sound would have those for sale? I just don't want to really vary from the original until I have it up a running. I will buying the lenses soon too.

    Thanks again.

The 2421B is available but put a bucket under your nose because you will be paying thru it. Probably $600 a pair just because they are Alnico look for 2425J's.

I think I have a clean pair of E110 cores and a pair of C8RE2122 recone kits waiting To be used - if you're interested, PM me and I'll look up what I paid for them. I've given up on my projects for a while

Ok, last night I purchased a pair JBL 2123H for my Project. So as of now, I have the 2245Hs and 2123Hs so I'm half way done with the driver collection.

Next up is the HF 2421b drivers along with lenses and the UHF 2405. If I can't find the these drivers I will just go with some of the suggestions that I have received. Hopefully I won't have to tweak the xover for this? I wanted to use the 4345 crossover but maybe the 4350 crossover may be a better fit for the 2123H, seems like everything else in that crossover is very close to the 4345 crossover.

The cabinet build should be starting within the next few weeks.

I will be purchasing a nice pair of JBL 2405H for JBL 4345 DIY project next week. This is coming along nicely and then after these I will be grabbing the 2307's or 2308's and lenses. I will then be done with the drivers and start on gathering and building the crossover for my 4345's. I have built some Xovers before but I may be coming here to ask some questions from the JBL experts. I will build the "Charged Coupled" version.

Once the cabinets are started/Finished I should have already have had all the drivers reconed and ready to go! With no set back/s, I should have this project done by Mid Summer if not sooner.

Thank You to everyone here for all the help so far!

I never got any input in my thread discussing how much can be reused of an E110: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...2-out-of/page2
