    Target curves

I have looked at different target curves, and there is something that I wonder about.

The Harman subjective listening test done some years ago, clearly showed that the preferred target curve was one like this:

When looking at the target curve for JBL Synthesis systems, it looks a bit different though:

If Harman found the first one to be the best, why is it not used in the Synthesis systems? Could be interesting to hear about your opinion of the two target curves and hear about what you think is most suitable/enjoyable for movie reproduction or music.

    Much ado about nothing

there's not that big a difference between the curves.

It depends if they have any acoustical treatment involved in those freq responses.

I might be wrong, but doesn't the THX certification (which i would guess the Synthesis installations follow) also include a predefined frequency response window?

I would say that the area between 120hz and 1khz differs a bit? I'm just curious to why.

It's too deep in the weeds. We can't say whether it's an intentional difference, one related to power vs. axial response balancing, or what.
