Adding 077 tweeter to Jbl l200's

I sold my JBL L300's a few years ago and have been regretting that a long time.. I happen to have come across a pair of L200's and they sound great, but I am wondering if its worth time/$ to add the 077's. Its been so long I can't remember the difference. Is there any other upgrades I can do to improve these great speakers.

    If these are L200B, yes!
a 2405H (or 2405) would be cheaper and sonically identical.

You could also replace the short H91 or by the longer H92 from the L300, at the expense of some wood cutting on the back of the box (do a search on the forum, I think member toddalin did it)

First question is do you have the 077's now or do you have to buy them? As the going rate is around $400-$500 depending were you go.

But I think the L200's benefit from the addition of the Tweets 077's But YMMV

Add a pair of 2405 slots, and upgrade the crossover to the (3-way) 4333 version ...
replace the short exponential horn with a longer one (2312)
(See SubWoofs thread on putting a bump-out box on the back of the L200 cabinet to make room for the longer 2312 horn) ...
Replace the woofer with 2234 or 2235.

Or go with an external wooden horn and upgrade your mid-drivers

    Lots of possibilities!

Try the first posts on this page - you can build new crossovers for the 3 way 4333 Monitor - it would be the 3133 crossover
Chances are your old crossover caps have aged and drifted anyway,
Its much better to build a better, newer design like that than to modify or add to your old circuits

    Is there any sonic difference?

I thought that the 2405 and the 077 only differed by the material used for the center plug, but that the sound was the same. All I would do is perhaps to fit some 2235 instead of the 2234. And refresh the crossovers.

You are going to add the tweeter circuit and modify the midrange circuit. If you are using the 077 replace the 0.5 mH coils with 0.18 - 0.2 mH coils. You can leave out the 1 mfd cap but it results in a peak that helps to fill in that little valley ~9KHz range common to the ring radiator design (and its varients).

Yes, and there is no sonic difference between A and H versions beyond unit to unit variation. Lastly they all use the same diaphragms and therefore have the same impedance even though some are labeled 8 ohms and others 16 ohms. (For those reading this for the 47th time, I apologize.)

Adding JBL 075 (as super tweeter) to JBL L100 Century

Hi! Does anyone has a set up like this? Is it safe to do so? What crossover schematic should I use? Thanks!

If you point those dead center to the listening position, the slight off-axis tilt will do a world of good in removing "beaming" and provide a flatter, more natural (livable) response.
