Yeah, W and W certainly didn't have ye olde Moogish bottom end that other albums like Trick of the Tail did, or tracks like say, Firth of Fifth from Selling England...
One of my fave prog records though.
DavidF - Looks like the owner was trying for some "free" treble separation there, given how close together both sides are mounted. Which is kinda dumb since they're not even symmetrical (different angles). lol Unless the rightmost speaker is really a center and there's another one further right. (?)
JBL IN THE 70's the great JBL years, the world leader.
Today year 2017 more than ever JBL with all the power of Harman is the world leader.
Stewart Copeland (The Police) with some 4315's from around 1983
Looks like they went a bit overboard on the wall diffusers in that room...
Here is a backstage / monitor pic from a Scorpions French Tour in the early 80s. Watch the stacking of JBL 4550 bottom, 4560 on top with a assembling of 2395 slant plates, horns and 075 bullets. Drivers were most JBL and Gauss, all AlNiCo of course. I remember we had Crown DC300 and BGW750 amps, you can see a rack behind the PA. Monitor desk was Soundcraft I think, lots of Klark Teknik EQs. We did not think about phase problems when we set up PA systems, horns were always on top, sometimes side by side. I worked for Scorpions from 75 till 84 and did hundreds of gigs with them.

Hello Mike,
I started 1975 as a backline roadie. We were only two guys and I was the only one with a driving licence. As nobody was interested in lights I put together a small lighting system and became the "lighting designer". After 79 we were three guys, one for backline, one for "P.A." and one for lighting. In 1979 we did our first Japan tour, 1980 our first U.S. tour as support band. I was payed per month by the band so I had to work for them also between the gigs in the rehearsal room or in the studio during recording. As I started my own rental service I had to quit Scorpions 1984. We still meet once a year and tell stories....
