2408H vs 2408H-1 differences?

What are the differences between the two drivers? Why is the -1 a bit cheaper?
I've been trying to find any substantial info on these for the last couple of days but haven't had much luck.

I'm trying to decide which set of drivers to get between either of those, the BMS 4540nd or the B&C DE38, but I would like to know more about the JBL drivers before I make my final decision.

I think, _but I maybe wrong_ that the "-1" indicates a ferrofluid cooled driver

At first I thought so too but the 2408H is considered the better driver used in the higher models... and it costs more, so I don't know. :/

JBL's part pricing is not a good indication of quality.

Though "-1" versions often are cheaper evolutions that are judged good enough for the intended application (2414H-1, 2404H-1, ...), but can be sonically inferior in some more general applications.

The 2408H takes its roots in the 2407H which was made by BMS (it really is a rebadged 4540nd) for JBL. Legend has it that JBL thought it was "overengineered" and built their own simplified version: the 2408H (and later 2408H-1, and for some applications the 2414H, and then 2414H-1...).
I never heard or measured the 2408H, but John W. tried both 2407 and 2408 and prefered the 2407.
I have compared the 2407H and 2414H here and the results are quite explicit.

So if I where you I would pick either the 4540nd or 2407H over the 2408H.
