help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok frist i will tell everyone what i have

behringer composer pro mdx 2200 and a super x pro crossover model dx 3400
amps qsc 1400 and crown ce 2000

subs are the 4648-8 2226 drivers running off crown

horns are the altec 511b and drivers are 2426 j running off qsc

were i am having trouble is the horns and subs just don t sound right together i have played with the crossover and gains till i am tired of messing with it . i play the corrs alot and i want it to sound like they are right here in the house . do i need some sort of mid bass driver or something . i am truly lost at this point .

Get ahold of a good sound man in your area and have him come in and set it up for you correctly, and show you why/how. Advice on a forum can be difficult, whereas in person someone can have it working right in a short time.
Also, I suggest you pay this person. It's worth it.

I’d strongly suggests a single straight forward (loudspeaker management crossover system) Behringer DCX2496 and matching amplifiers or at least matching amps for the LF LCR and if they happen to be different amps for the HF LCR then so be it, as long as each has LF/HF has its own set of matching amps.

It better if you had the same amplifier for LCRS/sub bass that way you stand less chance of getting lost.

The tone on the HF should be the same pink noise same in frequency response and that takes a bit of minor EQ same with the LF.

The sub should be EQ to give near flat response and shouldn’t overwhelm the rest of the soundtrack rather it should just accompany the action otherwise you’ll, have boom peaks smearing the mid bass and losing the detail of the mix.

A few simple bits of test gear would help you out as you need tools!

Pop over to Home Theatre Shack and sign-up to get their free REW Room EQ Wizard its spot on!

Then buy Behringer ECM8000 calibration microphone and pre-amplifier along with an SPL db meter all are real cheap and would help you out in many ways.

Oh, you might want a DEQ2496 for the EQ as the DCX2496 has limited EQ of 9 bands parametric on all six outputs and the higher the crossover slope the less EQ bands you get to trim the peaks and dips with.

Yes I know it all costs something but you only a few steps away from good sounding system.

agreed..... if you are friends with him/her... it could be as easy as a few beers too.....

just for giggles, what crossover points are you using currently?

i guess nothing on my behringer xover running on two way it only uses one knob to set the hf and Lf . i am trying to fill the gap i have but don t no how .

set the low frequency crossover as low as possible (44Hz?), then hook the
amp connected to your 2226's to the "MID" output of the crossover.

-or- set the low frequency -and- the high frequency crossover to the same
value (600Hz) and don't use the rear panel "MID" output at all (connect the
2226 amp to the "LOW" output on the crossover).

-or- get a copy of the manual and dig in.

What -was- I thinking ?!

Do get the manual if you haven't already (pdf online).

I wouldn't recommend going lower with the crossover (a bit higher might
even be a good thing). Check that voices sound realistic, but without
excesssive sssibilants (horn/woofer level mismatch).

Should not need CD compensation.

If the QSC makes a bit of snap or pop through the horns when powered up,
you might want to consider putting a capacitor in-series (between one
2426 terminal and it's connecting wire). The old JBL 5234/5 manuals have
a table depending on the crossover frequency and driver impedance, and
a brief explanation of why it may be a good safety net.

600hz seems pretty low to me for a hf driver. I would sure hate to fry the thing.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesent a 2226 play up to at least 800-1k good?

Advice on a forum can be difficult, whereas in person someone can have it working right in a short time. Also, I suggest you pay this person. It's worth it.
