    2226 and 2227 vs 2205 sim for 4530 please

I going to take out my 2205A's from my 4530's and save them.
I'm going to bye 2 new 2226H or 2227H to replace them.
I think I go for 2227H but before I decide I want a sim for freq and spl
    for 2226H and 2227H vs my 2205A.
So please anyone with AJ-Horn so I know what to expect.

    Best Regards

    Hi Kjelle,

    - I would advise you to also ask this same question on Paragons' thread on SIMing with AJ-Horn software.

    - I think Eckhard will appreciate this same topic being revisited there . He's made quite a few SIMs using this software for his own 4530s. Currently , I believe he is using K145s in his scoops.

    - Personally, I prefer the extra motional control that one gets from the deeper gap woofers / such as the K145 / E145 / 2227 ( & the foam surrounded ME150h ). I'll admit the 2226 is probably the easiest for you to find & buy . I mention the ME150H because if you ever get tired of the 4530 scoop / then the ME150H performs very well in a tuned reflex enclosure / while still offering dynamics reminiscent of being horn loaded . If using the ME150h , I would keep the crossover point not much higher than 800 hz .

    Thanx,
I decided to buy 2226H but then I found a place selling 2227H for the same price!
Thats why I want to know the differens in 4530's.
I'm mostly going to use them outdoor...and I want maximum spl and kick!
    Cheers

    H=8 ohms
PL=driver used for a system, with no foil label or rubber tire on the magnet

Parts Express is running a special @ $299.95 on 2226H. Probably a moot point since you are out of the US
    4406, 4412A, L100, L100t3 (3 pair), L1, L7, 4645C, 4660A, 4695B, SR4735 and various DIY JBL Pro loaded systems.

The label is there, just no tire.

    2205A has 150 and 2226H and 2227H has 600 or ?
And 2227H has 3 db higher sensitivity....

Exactly what are you wanting to do with these or use them for????

the 2227 is NOT a sub or normal bass speaker....if you are wanting bass then I would use the 2226 instead. The 2227 was ( is) more of a mid-bass speaker like the 2220 as i understand it..

here's more information on the 2227
    http://www.jblpro.com/pages/components/svg.htm

    and the 2226
    http://www.jblpro.com/pages/components/vgc.htm#2226HJ

anyway, as i understand it the 2227 was more for use above 90 or better as it has great mid-bass tranisent behavior.....and was designed to be played with a sub-woofer

if you're wanting an all around bass player I think the 2226 would be better for the lower notes( it's still considered a great mid-bass alo but not like the 2227). It just depends on what you want and what you are using it for....

    have I missed something here?

    in my two 4530 horn.

have you read the information on these 4 items? 4530 and 2205, 2226 and 2227?

info on the 4530 is here

    http://www.jblpro.com/pub/obsolete/L...nclosures2.pdf

If it where me then i'll use a 2226 because it MATCHES the specs better of the 2205
the response of the 2205 is 30 to 2000 with 97 sensitivity
the response of the 2226 is 30 to 2500 with 97 db sensitivity
the response of the 2227 is 50 to 3000 with a 100 sensitivity

in the brochure for the 4530 it states what the purpose to the 4530 is...part of it says " where strong response to the LOWEST musical frequenies is more important than high directivity or ultimate efficiency"

do your research tho and do what you think is best...

this is all I'll say about it...

    Good luck

Yes I have read all of them and many others...
And JBL also recommend 2220A for the 4530 and the 2227H is
more like 2220A with a curve line cone.
And as you know 4530 don't go below 50 Hz so I don't think 2226H will go lower than 2227H in a 4530.
But the 2247 is 3 db sensitive than 2226H and both 2226 and 2227
    takes 600 watt.
So my question is still there 2226 or 2227 for maximum kick and spl ?
So please anyone with experience of 2227 in a 4530...
And a AJ-Horn sim for both...

Yeah, but where is the 2227,s 3db greater efficiency? What happens, at least with me, is the mid bass, high efficiency woofer DOESNT have the bottom end KICK your looking for, because it produces alot more midrange!

I think the KICK your looking for will be better supplied to you by the 2226.

10-4, that's what the papers are saying of course...

But hey, if the 2227 makes you feel good and floats your boat imtkjlu, then go for it...

    good luck
