    lancer 77 vs. lancer 99's

i have a nice pair of lancer 99's and i love the sound of them. i was thinking of purchasing a pair of 77's. do they come up to the same level as my 99's. any feedback would be helpful. i know everybody has an opinion so lets hear it. thanks in advance, peterepeteblah:

(This thread could be in the General Department, Lansing Division.)

They would be different of course.

"Come up to"--who knows? It probably would be a matter of which you prefer yourself, in the end. Might be fun to find out.

Unless you're into the "collecting" thing, or are particularly fond of the vintage sound, moving ahead to newer design and technology might deserve consideration.

    I'm thinking 4410, 4412 or even 4425 for a "different" experience....

That's really neato Zilch and way too obvious.

Now... you've had both the L77 and L99...

    So which is it?

    Not meaning to interrupt...

I've had both, and really enjoyed the Lancer 77's. Here's some pics of a pair that I long-ago refurbished and refinished, thanks to encouragement from Giskard.

Well, it seems not so obvious to EVERYONE, apparently.

It's S99 now that I've retuned the boxes.

There's no more L77's here, and the L44's are about to go.

Passive radiators don't do it for me.

The 77's are indeed handsome and the LE10 is a great little speaker...BUT...it can't compare to the LE14.

These two things being equal (enclosure size, LE20) is where the similarity ends.

The LE14, in this box (24 x 12 x 14), surpasses any woofer that I know of...including the 123-a....and with the optional lattice grilles
