So what's up with all the JBL on the west coast?

I'm forever seeing vintage JBL for sale in California. Two or three times as much gear as anywhere else. It's depressing, as I can never find the quantity or quality in Texas or someplace I could drive in a day. I want some speakers, dang it.

Two reasons I can think of:
The Altec and JBL factories were out here.
And California was really booming during the 50s and 60s that was prime time for a lot of these classics

At least you can drive from Texas to CA.

Have a thought for JBL buyers on other continents like Australia. The 43xx and 44xx species are now almost extinct.

Whatever happened to the 4345 pair for sale last year in NZ? I lost track after they were relisted on eBay. I hope they are still in the "neighborhood."

I brought several pieces of JBL with me to CA from MI, including L100s, L7s, LX300s, and J2050s. I know there's a lot of JBL in MI. Guess I increased the concentration in CA by bringing more in.

I did drive through Texas on the way.
    Out.

The first Paragon I ever heard was in a hifi shop in Detroit in '66 or '67. It was a thing of beauty.

I scored a pair of L80S three years ago in Abilene and some loose drivers from a local PA company last year. There was rumor of some L100s, L166s, L65s, 4311s and 4312s in Denton last year in Feb. that I did'nt follow up on. (Kick me)
