    Unhappy Walter Sear RIP

This is a devastating loss. He lived a long, full life, but to anyone in any of the overlapping worlds of audio, the recording arts, and music, he will be sorely missed.

Sear Sound was/is still an active studio in NYC, and walter was still an active engineer.

What a pioneer, genius, and by all accounts a real gentleman.

I only regret that I never got to work with him.

    RIP, Walter Sear.

It is very long, but he nails all the problems on the head!
Since I work at a radio station I understand some of the problems.
Payola is a big problem at times, not here recently but was a few years ago.
I work for a Spanish format radio station(FYI I don't speak Spanish) even though I don't understand Spanish I know music. After I was here about 1.5 years I became very familiar with the music, I even made a statement that I didn't need a wrist watch any more because I could tell the time of day by what song was playing. A few people gave me a funny look when I said that, but a few months later the Program Director was fired.
It turns out she was on Payola!!
