Old Horn Design

Does anybody know anything about this horn design? It is an old
Klipch design that i've never seen used before. Is this a combination reflex and rear loaded horn? The reason I say this is because of the large cabinet area and the slot in the rear.

I was thinking of using a 2245H for this design as an experiment but wanted to find out what over people thought about this idea.
I know that long excursion drivers usually don't make good horn drivers but have seen Bruce Edgar use them in his designs.

Should I bag this idea?
