Here's an update! All that's left is the backs and taking the gloss off the finish.

Here's the backs with a touch of filler to fill the slight nicks that became visible after the first coat of flat black finish.

I used to be a refinisher for Bullocks in St. Louis. That guy was the greatest! He had so much work and charged the most outrageous prices. I remember Him walking into August A. Busch's house in the 70s and quoting a price of $4000 to refinish a Dining Room Table. When Busch asked when He could do it Dave told Him 8 weeks was as soon as He could get to it! He retired at age 48! I only worked there for 3 years but it was long enough to learn some tricks.

Ah HA! When I completed grad school, my first job was on the new "Lead Belt" (Viburnum), based in Salem, MO. The antiques supply there was amazing (even beyond that of the JBL cabinets recently on eBay... ), and we got heavily into furniture refinishing. The "Bullocks" name was renowned then, and price accordingly. So, being fresh outa Uni, and penniless, we learned it "along the way". Nasty work, to be sure. But I still have quite a few bow-front quarter-sawn oak wardrobes and "Hi-Boys" from that "era". Nice.

Thanks, Audiobeer! I've saved the entire Thread as as many pages of "Web Page, complete". A treasure trove of experience!

Crap! 3 of them sound fantastic! The 4th has a problem with the woofer. It's suttle and I may be imagining it. I wish I had a channel invert on the amp to verify it. It's just not as crisp as the other 3 in the bass area. I have one more woofer to try and if that dosen't work I have to buy one! These woofers run $200 + .....That sucks!

Yep, That's what it was! I installed the backup woofer but it has a crapload of glue all over it from a refoam! This will take forever to get this to look like a professional did it, if it can be done at all!

Here's what it looks like after the 1st round of M.E.K. Look's like crap! The surrounds have dimples now which I hope will go away. Looks like it's back to the drawing board!
