    Mystery JBL 1" Titanium Tweeters

Anyone know what these tweeters where originally used in?
    http://cgi.ebay.com/JBL-I-INCH-PURE-...QQcmdZViewItem

I have one that looks very similar except it's faceplate is completely flat and doesn't say JBL or titanium on the front plated. The center diffuser and neodyminium magnet are identical. On the back of mine it says 93D JBH, these have COF JBH. On the back of the plastic diffuser on my tweeter are the numbers 73735 1 M6627X00. Google doesn't bring up anything on these.

The dome itself is the same as a 035TI, TIA etc. I wonder how these compare to the larger titanium tweets?

While the dome may look the same, the magnet size is nowhere near that of the 035Ti/a drivers. I imagine they have somewhat limited output, (high volume), and distortion specs surely wouldn't be as good.

Well I imagine that the neodymium magnet on these is pretty powerful so that might not be a good indicator of performance. Kinda of like the smaller alnico magnets on the older drivers vs the ceramics of the later models. Neodymium has come down in price in recent years, that's why you see it more often. It's also self sheilding as well.

Are you positive it's a neodymium magnet?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're neo magnets. After doing a little research I believe these where used for in-wall speakers although I can't seem to locate which series though. I did find that the 1st 5 digit number on the back is the part number that matters.

    Question I'm on hold!

I made an offer of 2 @ $15 ea. but so far it has not been accepted. Not rejected either, so I guess the seller will just wait 23 days till the listing ends to see if he needs my offer... Anyone else have an offer accepted?
