Sound vise, pros and con's?

Thanks for the link, but I've already been there. It's a nice site, but there are no specs and no reviews unfortunately.

That's why I was hoping anyone here, might have some Knowledge/experience on the SU-9070.

There is an www.adrian-kingston.com website that has no SU-9070 info I can find.
My brother has all the Technics Sx-9xxx electronics, vintage 1978 or so, with I think the SB-E100 12"/horn/horn speakers, and loves them. I think they sound kind of dry, clinical but bridging the power amp warms them up alot.
I have had the SU9070 preamp, ST9030 tuner, SH9010 equalizer and SE9060 power amps but only have the tuner and equalizer now as I got the amps for my brother. The preamp sounds very clean, maybe clinical, with lots of exotic controls but those controls do get oxidized, which is why I found and passed on a replacement 9070 for him. The 70wpc power amp sounds ok but that improves a ton - warmer sound, solider bass - when you bridge them at 180wpc.
All the units appear occasionally on EBay and go for $100 - $300ea.

ask this guy a question about your preamp. this guy is a nut for older technics eq. If he dont know any thing about your preamp I know he can turn you on to some who does know

I have the schematics and tech specifications for the su9070 pre amp se9060 power amp and sh9010 parametric equalizer and m85 cassette
includes block diagrams and specification lists

i bought 2 power amps he preamp and the parametric equaliser in 1979.. the fine knobs break a bit .. 1 transformer burnt because of a brown out i believe. Its still a perfect 200 watts rms dc classA amp system

dynavector and nakamichi support stuff . The quartz locked m85 tape recorder hasnt missed a beat in nearly 30 years

what do you want to know?

Hello Pangea,

I have been using a SU9070 for the last 4 or 5 months and am very impressed. I am running it into a Perreaux 1150B Mosfet amp on the DC output - you have a choice - and in to my S/3100. My previous pre was a Audio Note M2 Phono (all tubed including regulation). I really liked the AN and still do, but I find that the SU has that little bit extra resolution and dynamics. Also, it has a Mono switch and is dead quiet. All in all I am very happy and have no interest in changing it out. As I once read, there are probably quite a few 'sleepers' out there and I think this might just be one of them. Considering I picked this up for less than $50.00 and I paid $2700.00 for the AN once upon a time, I would say that is an understatement !

Hope this helps.. let me know if you want more specific info. Oh yeah, as for it sounding sterile.... not in this system and we are talking titanium compression drivers here!!
