First post, re.L-220.

First post on this forum.
I will be taking possesion of a pair of L-220s a couple of weeks from a friend.Right now I'm using a pair of L-112s that are nice but am looking for a fuller sound with more bass and dynamics.The L-220s have been modified/changed somewhat.There is I believe a 033 tweeter in replace of the 076 horn?.The midrange is the same but without the diffraction plate.The woofer is the Le-14a.The x-over has all new solen caps and coils and has been modified slightly for the different tweeter.
I have listened to these at my friends house and they sound wonderful.
My amps are Modified Seymour Duncan KT88 that were guitar amps changed for hi-fi use.They put out around 70 watts.Will this be enough to get the L-220s rocking.

The changes made buy my friend were well thought out.He is a electrical engineer with 30+ years of experience with hi-fi.
My room is large enough I hope to accomadate these speakers.8'h x 12'w x 27'L.

Would be worth more in it's original state, but it sounds like they were
turned into big L150A's (not necessarily a bad thing, sound-wise). You'll
have to be the judge.

I -do- think you would be happier w/ more watts (up to 200-300), especially
if you like to listen loud. I was not unhappy w/ 70w/ch on L150A's, but
everyone who heard them later w/ 300w/ch notice the improvement
(ok, it -was- a nicer amp ... watts aren't everything, bit it will be interesting to
hear of your experience with the KT88-based amp. I've got a 100w/ch 6550
amp I should hook up to the '150's).

1) Modify a pair of L220's? Wow, the original design sounded pretty damn good to me. I wouldn't change a thing, personally.

2) Seymour Duncan 70 watt guitar amps to run them? I can assure you that a good quality home audio amp, or good quality pro audio amp with 200 to 300 watts per side will convince your speakers to come alive. Power is the key to get them 'rocking'.

3) 8'h x 12'w x 27' l? Yes they are big, but not this big.
