    3107 Modification

I happened to notice a note on the TRANSDUCER REPLACEMENT LIST for the 2440 that states NEVER USE 2441 IN 4350 SERIES WITHOUT NETWORK MODIFICATION.
What type of modifications are they talking about. I have a pair of 3107's I was planning on using for the "project" but now I am starting to have second and third thoughts.
So far I have one large format 2441 driver with a 2482 foilcal (born out of wedlock). Are the modifications complex enough to make me shop around for 2440 drivers or diaphragms or go to a complete active crossover system?

The crossover was designed to work with the rolloff of the original aluminum diaphram. You could use 2441's providing they have the original 2440 diaphrams. If you look at the attached link, page 3, there is a graph that clearly shows the difference in HF response between the two diaphrams.

I would either build 4355 (3155) networks from the ground up and sell your 3107s or buy a pair of new 2440 diaphragms (D16R2440).

You could add a low pass filter to the HF portion of the 3107 networks, but it wouldn't be as good as the complete change over.

    Thanks Guys

That's what I was kind of figuring. I was already looking at the 3155 schematic but eye strain took over. I had fun building the crossovers for my L300 clones and was very pleased with the results. I will probably put the 3107's on ebay and wait for the bottom feeders. Thanks!

I would think they would be ok to use. You might find the only difference would be that you would end up with a lower setting on the 2405 slot. Hell you have the parts, go ahead and try it out and then decide if you like what you hear.

If you think it is too bright sounding swap out the dia. to the 2440's
