    Original price of 240Ti?

Does anyone remember what the original price of the 240Ti was? I remember the pair of 250Ti I heard in a CC in '87~'88 was $995/ea.
Also what was the price of the L65 Jubal. In '73, when I bought the L55s @ $276/ea, I seem to remember the original L65s were about $75~$150 more than the L55s.

I'm asking, being I see a pair of each on ebay, and the "buy now" prices look a bit high.

Thanks Giskard, looks like my memory of the price of the 250s is off by about half.

True. But some people seem real proud of those things and other people seem real proud to pay whatever price to own them. I'm certainly glad I owned them when they actually mattered and don't have to seek them out now. I remember it was an exciting time though.

    Unhappy A sad story

Within the past 90 days a very nice pair that I initially bid on went for just over $500. I refrained from bidding higher at the request of someone who wanted them, then he missed the deadline and never bid. Doh!

Man I was bummed. I would have gone $800 with no regrets.

MJC, to me $1100 is too much, but it depends on how desirous someone is to own them.
    Out.

Yeah, well, that's about what we paid for all that stuff back then, roughly half. Maybe that place had a pair around that they were trying to get rid of.

I guess, by the time JBLs were sold in CC. But in the '60's~'70's I only saw them sold at full retail, at least here in Nevada. The exception being if you bought the store's floor models, as was the case when I bought the L212 system in '79 for 25% off.
I remember JBLs back then being listed as "fair trade" products or some such wording.

I wasn't aware that CC ever sold 250Ti's. Sounds depressing. I can definitely see some place like CC dumping them at cost. It's hard for me to imagine CC and 250Ti in the same sentence.

I've been thinking about buying some JBLs for my son's wedding gift. But haven't placed any bids anywhere yet.

    O' Swami of the Site!

Hello. DavidTwoTrees, here. Normally outspoken, but I've been lurking on the site for some time, now. I own a pair of Jubals, my first JBL's ever. I hug them on occassion. Really. Bought mine on ebay last year for about $750 delivered from CA to IL. They are near mint.

Mr. Giskard, O' Swami of the Site, can you help me with the date codes? My serial #'s are-29053 and 31468. They are both Jubals.

Just to blow some sunshine up your butts- this site is kick ass. The content and contributors are really something, and the site itself is just layed out superbly. Kudos and a hearty Hail Well Met! to all concerned.........

Yes, at least in the CC in Reno. Like I said it was either '87 or '88, being we had only moved up here from Vegas in "86. They had them set up between the inner and outter doors. I just stood there for at least 15~20 min listening to them, thinking the whole time, "I'd buy them right now if I already didn't have the L212s" but I knew the wife would have thrown a fit, if I did.
Being we got divorced in '89, I wish I had.
The 250Ti was quite an improvment over the L212. But they(L212) do make a really good 7 channel system, after all these years.

    Lightbulb

Yeah it was quite an improvement. The main thing that really bothered me about the L250 and 250Ti was the height.

Now I'm thinking I might just rout out the 066 holes in my L212's...

No doubt. Figure it would cost you a whole lot less to build biased networks for them than it would to "upgrade" to PT800's. The 066's are kind of scary because they are no longer serviceable and they will wear out eventually. I'm not sure of the lifespan of phenolic material but I would think it is longer than aluminum or titanium. G.T. figured the 044Ti's are past their prime after 20 years of service. I recently had all mine redone (and they are now no longer serviceable either). I'm looking at replacing the whole mess with 800 Arrays anyway. I'm finally getting tired and bored with all these "projects" that have gone on constantly for the last 30 years.

Yes the tweeter seems a bit too high, but I was standing up the only time I listened to them. I saw yesterday that the listed height of the 240s is only 1 1/2" lower than the L212s, when they are mounted on their bases. Being able to remove the L212 base and using a tilted 3" base allows for it to fit below the 65" screen.
Now I'm thinking I might just rout out the 066 holes in my L212's...
And replace the 066 with either the 044 or 035?

I'll probably try the 044Ti and 104H. Just for fun. I'll have to fix the low pass for the 112H. The thought of the 112/2108 with those transducers is pretty interesting... the 2122 is too efficient for them, the LE10H works real nice but it needs more room that the 0.40 cu ft the 112/2108 can live with. 0.75 to 1.0 cu ft sealed for the LE10 sounds real nice. I guess I'll go and dig my L212 enclosures out of the garage and see if it is feasible.

Yeah, the 240Ti is also at a nice height like the L212. I ended up with a 1-1/2" slab beneath my 240Ti's.

Titanium tweeters from vintage JBL systems will be in museums!

I wonder how long the 035TIA's I am collecting will last? I have a pair of L40T3's and looking to pick up a pair of L60T's and a pair of L20T's as they all have the 035 tweeter variants.

The L40T3's sound pretty decent, biggest lack other than bottom end bass is the midrange clarity and detail. I am still looking for 104H or LE5 variants to use in my almost 240Ti's in a future project.
