Thanks, HP. That is indeed interesting. I didn't think they were from the '80s.

If it were ME selling them, they'd have been "Rare vintage improved 'A' version."

He just wanted them "GONE" from his house....

    Edit: Ooops, forgot the horns:

Dates sound right, though these must've been bought as a pair in that time frame. Guess they got mis-matched at the stereo store.

pair of 030 systems from C38 cabinets in ebay auction

pair of 030 systems from C38 cabinets in ebay auction

    C38 cabinet serial number 31689 and 31690
    D130 serial number 69484 and 68677
    075 serial number 40135 and 40136
    N2400 serial number 19551 and 19565

    in ebay auction:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/JBL-C38-D130-TUB...QQcmdZViewItem

    from auction description:
Hard to let these go... Vintage JBL C38 Barons without the enclosures. The SN. of the enclosures were 31689 & 31690. Auction includes 2 D130 15 in. speakers, 2 075 bullet tweeters with mounting rings, & 2 N2400 crossover networks (also includes original product badges from the C38's). All marked 16 ohm. The 075s have consecutive serial #s of 40135 & 40136. All have red wax seals, but one only has 3. I don't know why. I'm confident it is all original also. D 130 serial #s 69484 & 68677. N2400 serial #s 19565 & 19551. I tested them for a short while immediately before disassembly and found them to be ROCKIN!!! The only problem I found were the pots on the brilliance controls were scratchy & need to be cleaned. I also noted that these pots aren't 4 position like the knob implies, but variable. The cones on the 130's look near perfect and I don't believe they need reconing.

pair of 001 systems in custom cabinets

pair of 001 systems in custom cabinets in an ebay auction.
An early LE175 with a debossed model number suggests these are from the mid 1960s. No crossover included. Serial numbers for one system included in auction.

    130A serial number 24385
    LE175 serial number 1056

    listed in ebay auction:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-JBL-Matc...QQcmdZViewItem

    from auction description:
I welcome any info you may have on these.
These speakers are working and sound great. They have a crisp sweet tone. The grill on one is damaged as seen in the pictures. I think this could be repaired. This is a cut masonite or pressboard grill. I think the cones are original and I took them out only to photograph. They look perfect.
These have no crossovers. The batting is mostly missing. Please check the photos for details and serial/model numbers etc.

C36 with 001 system on yahoo auctions Japan

    LE175 serial number 32532 and 32548
    N1200 serial number 1505 and 1701
    HL87 horn

    in yahoo Japan auction:
    http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k35084586

    babelfish translation of auction description:
It is exhibition of the inscription vessel and the C36 viscount speaker of JBL. When purchasing, we purchased with the original box, but because name has not entered, at the photograph please judge. The foot it is the defect item, but I had used like the photograph, on the board of the cherry tree material supporting with wood block. Sound not to be wrong, it is JBL sound. The box, like the photograph is hitting in here and there angle and the ま, as for both sides the beautiful grain has come out without either the scratch excessively. It tried projecting the one where the right side has hidden to カガミ. The top board 1 place small soiling (1cm) it is on the left side, but relatively it is clean. With being about to say, in my impression, it probably is the place such as degree of halfway? If it cares with such as oil, already you see a little and you think that prospering becomes good. Occasion such as thin blotch it increases, the net, but there is no tear. The logograph of JBL has entered into the marbling net. Unit constitution 130A (serial 35953/34359) + LE175 (serial 32548/32532) + HL87 honeycomb horn + N1200 (serial 1701/1505) 8 is Ω. By the way, unit of this hand happens to see the pain of the edge and the cone and those which repaired the little tear frequently. But, this time unit of exhibition in order for you to be able to verify even with the photograph, there is no pain and it is the beautiful item. You think that it is possible to call the highest quality. There is no 130A or LE175 or the serial to be close a dispersion of sound. Furthermore, there is no what ガリ and the like even in gain control of network. It is this kind of item, but in at this opportunity, by all means, will the fact that you add to the one item of love listening how probably be? We ask may. Early (also the late to weekend), only the one which you can pay, please bid. Sufficiently, agreement it receives, asks with the no claim no return. We correspond to the serious initial failer, sufficiently e.g., sound does not come out.
