My L300's about 20 years ago

These pictures show one of the many pairs of L300's I would build back in the 80's. Cabinets where built out of a inch and a quarter PB. The speakers weigh more than 200 pds each. These were copied from the original L300's. WilsonArt furniture grade laminate. Color Coco Bolo. These photo's were from a polaroid I have found them finally. Crossover's built with Solen caps and I forget who made the coils. 1 coil was a jbl stepped 1.55 Mh if I remember. Some of the later crossovers had even better components. Load resistors and bypassed with wonder caps. 2 pictures show the original L300's with my Subwoofer's Then
These were EV 30W's the 30 inch woofers with 2 per cabinet in a 65 cu.ft enclosure. Light bulbs did not stand a chance Cops and neighbors really did not like me then I was and still am JBL Howard Hughes crazy

Gawd, those are some bi-i-g woofers on those EV's. What did the motors look like?

    30W cones

I thought the 30W cones were white, did you paint them?

You must've been truly insane to even conceive of TWO 30W's in one GIANT cabinet. Thank god you were never cured, now you can share your disease with us!

Glen, all 4 -30W I bought brand new. All of them were grey fronts but the backs were white. When you had the 4 playing it broke the seals on the Pella windows.
Pella replace 4 windows with a heavier plexiglass and frames.

the L-300 clones look great. I have always wanted a pair of 30W. Everyone always forgets about EV when going to build high efficency speakers.

the 30W is one speaker that would be hell to recone

So it wasn't just the the two 30-Ws in the pic?
TWO thirty inch woofers weren't enough,
    You had to have FOUR!

    You are very dangerous.

Your L300 clones looked great!! Although I must say that it is a little unsettling to look at a veneered front when I'm so used to seeing the drivers along a flat black baffle. I suspect I could get used to it, a la L250 and L100T series though.

What ever happened to your original clones or the variations you later built? Did you reuse the components or sell them off and start anew?

Do you still have contacts with those who may have ended up with your speakers (hint, hint)? Inquiring minds want to know.

    Regards,

    Bart

It was and still is a sickness. 2 pair working in Illinois and 1 pair somewere down south. 1 pair I sold just cabinets to a forum member. The 2 pair I saw and did some work on them about 3 or 4 years ago. Foam Rot. I never took enough pictures of my projects but I am finding some photos
