077 diaphram

I have determined that the 077 in one of my L300 probably needs a diaphram. Output is very low and I swapped the unit with the other speaker and the 077 is not working right. I see that Orange County speaker has 2 diaphrams that may work. A D8R075 that the webiste says it's for 077 and 075. And also a D16R2405 that they say is for the 2405. Both are 8 ohms according to the site. I's like to do the diaphram myself but I wanna get the right one. Can someone direct me on how to change the diaphram?. I can see that it has alignment pins but I'm not sure how to get it the rest of the way appart to remove the lens etc.

I have found a place here in Philadelphia that is replacing the diaphrams in my 077's with the 2405's for $110 ea. They are an autorized JBL Professional service center. I'll provide the info if anyone is interested. They are also reconing a 136A for me to a 2235A. Orange County wanted $100 just for the diaphram!

It is $$ very well spent and will last a long time. Not trying to spend your money, but why not do both the 136A so they match - if possible. Go through the break in of both woofs once. Your probably looking at a good 12 years out of them, anyway.

I'd be very interested in who is doing the work for you in Philadelphia. I have a diaphragm that needs replacing and haven't wanted to venture into it myself.

A little background. I had both the 136A's done about 10 years ago and I don't remember the details for some reason but what seems to have been done was that I must have asked for the surrounds only to be replaced and they could do one but had to recone the other woofer. So what I ended up with was one 2231A cone with a new surround and one 2235A cone(the reconed one). I now have them reconing the 2231A woofer to a 2235A to match. I considered doing the 2235A again so the age will be the same but the cone looks brand new so I'm gonna hold off to see how they sound. Here is the service company info.

They are listed on the JBL Pro Sound web site for service in this area. Drew showed me around the shop and showed me some of his service manuals from JBL and it was great stuff and a cool experience.
