    L26 Adventure

I was given a pair of vintage L26 Decade speakers, in original boxes, with refoamed woofers, instruction manuals and brochure. I hooked them up to my Heathkit AA-32 amp (8 watts/push pull) and Sony ES CDP. The sound was awful, boomy bass, harsh highs and little midrange. After the audition I cane up with a couple of options; Ebay, Goodwill or experiment on them. I decided on the latter. I changed the original 8uf cap on the crossover with an 8.2 Clarity cap, bypassed with a .1uf Clarity cap, changed the internal wire with Silver Sonic wire, and changed the push button posts to gold five ways. After burning them in for seventy hours I reconnected them to the Heathkit amp. What a BIG difference! Bass is highly detailed, midrange is excellent and highs are well defined. These speakers are now "keepers"
