    best buy 375 and ev-30

    Hi

A few years ago, right before i joined this site, I scored a 375 coupled to an old rogers organ horn with the bass counterpart, an EV 30 woofer. I had no idea what they were and offered the guy 75 dollars, which he agreed to. Now the story gets more weird, since I was driving a VW, and resonding to a 3 week old kijiji add. I spotted some speakers that had been hacked, all these speakers came out of a church refurb, and these hacked speakers were LaScalas which I gave the guy 50 dollars for. There was no room in my car for the 375 and 30 EV so i left them there with no strings attached. A week later I was browsing the kijiji and seen they were still there...phoned the guy and asked if he would still do the 75 dollar thing and he said yes...I still didn't know what they were. Totally amazing! Of course all this was done against the wife's will...as in "more junk"

First, a pair of giant B-stock cinema horns 2392 (announced as discontinued), which I had spoted overseas. Took me a lot of contacts with JBL and the main European distributors to finally have the boss of the French Harman rep SCV get them for me (bless him). Then, shortly after, a pair of NOS 2490J drivers appeared magically on the net to go with these (bless the seller too).

Second, on a prof trip, I came accross a music shop which had just ended its PA activity. Got a pair of NOS 2482 and half of dozen of NOS diaphragms 2445J and 2482 (+other non JBL stuff), all for a few bucks. Had to improvise to get these "precious" to my address since seller didn't want to send them and I couldn't take them on the plane.

I got a quad of these for $75 each- 2206h (with a weatherproofing coating) and 2426h on a DDS ENG90 waveguide. Fiberglassed cabs are very tough. Old but working! They were used as parade speakers at Disneyland, then decomissioned for age, but are still AOK

Nice score! Only an angry wife would sell at that price.

I got a pair of 4311b's 3 (?) years ago (by the pound) and the grilles were broken , just for S&G I tried some old RadioShak fake L100 quadrex foams ... fit fine, a bit weird , but OL was happy.

After very little deliberation, these 4311's are some fine sounding speakers.
Cut out my sub, and was Impressed with LF.

BUT what I really want to know is where you got those custom STANDS ??????????????????

What is that, Early Basset ? Haywood/Wakefield????

The OL is Asian .. all the livingroom furniture is solid teak (with rosewood stain) marble seat area ..very heavy. inlaid "mother of pearl" designs on the couch. perfect for speaker stands

I liked the 4311b's too, but the offer of a straight across trade for some much rarer ones (Ohm F2's) was too much to resist.

Ohm's website lists F2's for $1595. That is incorrect. The price is actually for the upgrade to the "F" model, which was $4k at last price, so to have F2's would cost about $5,600.

The president of Ohm Acoustics is very approachable, email & even phone consultations are available ... He loves to talk about the products/offer advice. Nice guy.

I think that FRS is from the Ohm conventional speaker line. They have 2 very different product lines , the other being the Ohm Walsh. It's a very odd 1 way driver that radiates the signal down the outside of the down looking "cone", 360 degrees.

The Walsh series is different experience from any other speaker that I've ever heard.

    Frequency Response 32 - 20,000 Hz (+/-3dB)

I don't want to provoke anyone, but in A/B comparisons with my 250Ti's
(on the same exact gear/room/sources) the new listener usually picks the
Ohms as more enjoyable. USA/NY company , all made here.
