    Altec 755A

Why do people want my nasty AR1's with Altec 755A?

    JBL equivalent D208, no?

I had several of those drivers back in the day, and I have to say everything they say about them is true. I've heard that the speaker was developed during the war to make speech intelligible over intercom systems in very difficult on-board ship conditions during WWII. The driver has a very fine midrange and is treasured by people who want speakers without crossovers and driveable by very small amps.

Edit: I've never tried the D208 for hi fi, but I do not think it is as linear as the Altec.
