Good place to send for recone in West NY?

Does anyone know of a good place in the western New York/Buffalo area where I can get a pair of 2225H's reconed as 2235H's?

I live near Niagara Falls, Canada. There's a place in Toronto that does recone work but they want $300+ CDN to recone one speaker. Even in Canadian dollars that seems pretty steep.

    Any thoughts?

I guess this also begs the question .... is the difference between the 2225H and the 2235H just the foam vs. paper surround? Is it even possible to just replace the surround?

    Thanks.

    Jim.

Might as well give Consolidated Audio in Pompton Lakes NJ a call, get a price, and ship it to them! Eric Wayne is THE JBL reconer of choice!

Nope, 2235H has mass ring, and any foam surround you have installed will be aftermarket, not JBL.

Have the proper JBL 2235H kit installed. They're not (yet) terribly expensive....

Would a 2235H cone work on the 2225? The coil of the '35 is around 1/8" (.125") longer. I'm not sure this will work. You'll also need the mass ring from the 2235.

Anyone in doubt may use "Search" to find the multitudinous (and occasionally raucous) discussions of this subject on these forums.

2225 is the preferred, identical, clone frame....

You could also try Speakerworks in Syracuse. They are an authorized JBL repair shop. (315) 452-3330 - 6035 E Taft Rd, North Syracuse, NY 13212.
