So basically I need some advice...

I need to sell my Quad ESL-63's.....walking baby plus the power cords plus fragile nature of the panels make me uneasy....

The speakers will be driven by a pair of Berning EA-230 triodes at 60 watts a pop///

or am i better off looking at a L-220,,but that seems to have a higher center of gravity or tipping factor?

How about something much more current, (and better sounding).
    PT800 – Performance Series
    3-Way 8" (200mm) On-Wall, Corner-Mount or Stand-Mount Satellite Speaker

Notice the wall mount option? No tipping, sounds great. And baby isn't going to tip over the associated sub.

The 4320 is more sonically salvageable via conversion to a three-way.

Not so easy with the Apollo.

L220's are very heavy and thus stable in spite of the increased height.

Designed for a specific sonic character that was inherently inaccurate, one JBL engineer from the period described the L220 as "dreadful." No matter, they still rock out authoritatively....

    That's a cinch, get a pair of 4350's!

As the Zilchmiester said, the 4320 is very mod-friendly. You could go whole hog and convert it into an S-22-2 system. I did this to an old pair of 4325's and love the outcome. They will also have to be raised up to get the HF at ear level. I added integral stands to mine.

One thing though, the photo shows the HF offset from center. I don't think this was normal. Perhaps Tom could chime in, I think he restored a pair.

Looks like it. Makes a nice space to add the tweeter, tho.

    [Hoping they're mirror-imaged....]

    L220's

    Whitese,

The L220 or L222 is a great choice and will really come alive when you take that cone mid out and put the L300's H92/LE85 set up in it's place. Great tower design. I've also addressed the crossover mis-match by going to a tri amp set up. TOTALLY different speaker!. The drivers are in the perfect position and yet it has a small footprint. The trapezoidal shape makes them very stable. The modification process is very straight forward and the resulting effect fantastic. Here are some pictures of what you'll need to do basically. The exit mouth of a 2312/H92 800hz horn fits perfectly once you remove the LE5-9 and it's small cardboard tube enclosure. One of the pictures shows a rare McCauley 451 elliptical mouth 800hz horn with an LE85 that now resides in my L222 Discos, how do they sound? WONDERFUL!. That statement by the JBL engineer no longer applies to this modified version, although the stock L220 is no slouch in my personal opinion anyway. If you decide to give this a try, send me a PM and I'll walk you through it and help you find the parts too. Good luck in your endeavor, Steve G.

While the Apollo's will be very difficult for a kid to push over it has two corners standing really far out...
