Altec similar to this Audax? even though no horn in Audax?

Well, I am at a loss figuring out these drivers, and I want to have some cabs built for them...Only thing I remember is that they have been compared to Altec 604's (even though the Audax doesnt have a horn it seems)

here are some pics..and if this belonged in the Off Topic section...my BAD!!!!

Watch that yellow powder on the handle and nut's it's cadmium dust. If it's not coming off your OK but it looks like it's coming off the nuts. You may want to clear coat it or safely remove it, not sure how so you don't get any on ya.

I have a pair of Audax's that are almost identical to yours. Mine are CA150's I believe. They are gold in color but pretty much the same speaker. Mine were distributed by Rekokut as well. I have a cabinet construction manual for them somewhere. I will try to find it. Those originally had a cork like foam surround that must have been replaced. Mine need new surrounds. My recollection of their sound is that they are less efficient and dynamic than an Altec 604 but probably smoother with deeper bass.

    "New subject to me."

    Hello David

I learned about it in the tube forum at AA. Lot's of steel chassis were plated with it cause it is a great corrosion inhibitor. Only prolem is with age it gets powdery and is toxic. With any of the older aging gear you have to be on the look out for it.
