What is best choice for 15 x 20 room?

I'm currently using JBL S38CH speakers in my 15x20 room (ones in my avatar).
What do you think of them?

I'm using them with a Technics SE-A5mk2 amp (2x150W RMS)

I had the chance to listen to some highend speakers like Proac, Amphion with my amplifier. Man, they sound sooo sweet and better. Not to mention they cost at least 10x as much.
Main reason of this thread is I want to stay with JBL!

I can get a pair of 4425's in pristine condition. Or should I just stick with S38's? What is the best choice for you?

P.S I still seek 250TI's for my living room in Germany or Netherlands. If anyone selling one there please let me know!

Audition the 4425's in your room, if you can.

With constant directivity horns, they are very different from what you are presently using, and will interact acoustically with your space in a decidedly different way....

If you get some 4425s, and your room is not carpeted you may be dissapointed. I have the 4430s on Hardwood floors and you really have to be in the sweet spot. Hardwood Floors suck.

i have hard wood floors the use of rugs on the floor and hanging tapestrys and speaker stands is a must

my grand fathers little vintage sony speakers are blue tacked of the floor
(86 and i built him a better system then he ever owned and way better than alot of peoples)(not including use guys the (lhf`s)
he now has my technics amp

Floors are hardwood. I do not know if matters but they are real wood tiles not laminated ones.

I guess I need to ask the same question, sort of. My room is 23'5" by 14'6" by 7'9". I have a pair of 4333's, which I would be happy with forever, but a pair of 4345's (which I would die to have on general principles - i.e., I am a guy and I have a pulse; I love JBL's and I want them; etc) may come my way.

My calculations show a resonance frequency of 24-25hz for the room dimensions, plenty low. Any chance 18 inch bass in a big ported cabinet won't have room to work? Are there other problems on my horizon?

You never mentioned the budget. I assume it isn't unlimited and these may be a bit too much, but I'd give these some serious consideration. Like your current speakers, they too are using 8" woofers, but these are significantly better ones. You will probably want to add the sub(s) when finances allow.

My budget upper limit is ~2k. But I really like to stick around 1-.1.5k max. since I will also get a 250TI for the living room.

I came by an interesting JBL, its model number is S2600. It is brand new in box, unused. Seller speaks very favorably about these. I like to ask your opinions as well for my room. How are these speakers and are they going to be OK for my room?

I had a pair of those S38's (actually S38BEII's). Sounded okay, definitely NO lower octave to speak of. I sold mine a few months ago and I am now auditioning a pair of SVA1800's! What a difference in sound! I personally have always wanted the 4425, 4430 or 4435 but have never had the chance to get a pair! Go for the 4425's but from what I have gathered here in this forum, be prepared to use a sub with them as well.

S2600 with controlled directivity? You'll need the left and right of a pair. Search the forum for more info. They'll give 4425's a run for their money....

New version - W1500H. Tweeked here and there for roughly a year. "8 ohm" voice coil instead of that "4 ohm" voice coil that digital amps hate. Techbot posted some stuff on it here - http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/s...ead.php?t=7113
