I use FM interstation hiss for testing, also spoken word recordings of male and female readers. After all that I switch to Jazz, mostly recently recorded stuff that was either full digital or at least excellent analog recordings.

I use recording by Earth Wind and Fire, George Benson, Jimi Hendrix, The Police, and a wide assortment of Dance and Rock tracks.

The Dire Straits Brothers in Arms is an excellent test album. So is Dark side of the moon. Tracy Chapman's first album has an excellent spoken word track and really good acoustic guitar.

I only listen to "Afternoon Delight" by Starland Vocal Band.

I'm totally sick of all other music.
To be totally blunt, it all sounds rediculously "gay" to me...

    You crack me up.

But what about Wham's "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" Shirley, that can't be gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Play it backwards and the lyrics change to "same old bitch in the morning".
I did receive the new Diar Straits (Best Of) CD and was really impressed with the recording.
