    123A Rubbing

Can I get a keyword to search out the proper procedure to identify rubbing. Or just the down and dirty on how to check for rubbing. I jumped in head first and moved the cone in and out and shes a rubbin. I then EQ some low end pink noise in it and tried again. Much better that way. Hope I didnt wreck anything. Inquiring minds (mindless) want to know whats acceptable. Thanks.

if your keen try cutting the dust cap off

look for a score mark on the inside of the coil(unacceptable)
shim it if u see a rubbing mark
and force a slightly thicker(by 1mm) than normal shim down the gap before the score, move it back and forth trying to bing it into shape (medication boxes and the crap they leave in your mailbox are an invaluabe soure of shimms)
if this does not do it

apply a little bit of pressure with your thumbs at the mark and the oppiste side ,then test again

once you think you got it

put a little paint on the shim and cover the old rub mark by inserting the shim a few times, wait for it to dry and thay way u can see whats happing, run it with out the dust cap for awhile

i have fixed a few speakers this way

    and they still going now

    aussie`s have to improvise
