    Printing...?

    Hey, Don...

I, yet again, found myself copying/pasting (Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V) posts into Word for printing.

    So, a dumb question?

¿Is there no smart feature available that would enable printing individual posts? Like a button that could be attached to each post as is "profile", "pm", "search" and "buddy". I'm relaxed about continuing to use my kludge work-around, but maybe there's something more to this platform, yet...

    Hi Bo

Sorry I didn't see this til now. I did some checking, and there is no simple way to print a single post with this version of vBulletin. The next version, due for release shortly, has some work arounds. However, for now, I can't suggest anything other than cut and paste.
    Regards

    Printing a single post

    Bo

    Here's what I do.
Place cursor on upper left frist letter of text desired.
You should see a I instead of the usual arrow.
Left click and hold while draging I down to right last letter
    of text desired.
    Release left button.
All of the text should be hi-lited (mine is blue with white
    letters).
Left click File, then left click Print from menu.
When the print window shows left click the Selection box
    then left click OK.
Your printer should print only what you hi-lited.
    I am using Microsoft IE.
You can paste using this same procedure also.

    It works for me.

    Hey, MJ...

Yea, that does work - you can also Right-click after blocking the text and hit the "Print" que, from there.

But, neither of these capture the formating of the Post. Drat!

At least we know we're all stuck here together! Ha!

Thanks MJ, and thanks Don for playing catch-up!

I meant mostly the images/.pdf's that are "Attached Files". They don't come across without special treatment (read: work-around).

    Hey, Michael...

You posts encouraged me to have another go at this.

I found that if you start the text block on the Posters Moniker, and then block everything, including the avatar and date, then right-click / Print / Selection, you get a dang good copy of just the blocked area, Moniker, avatar, data and all.

    An acceptible work-around!

    Thanks!

    Michael...

In my estimation, that contribution was huge. The Forum is a collective. What we cannot file and retrieve, we lose, rendering all our contributions useless effort. Hardcopy becomes increasingly critical as contibutions are simply lost in the mire, or suddenly are deleted/retracted.

The desire and need for hardcopy is what prompted my plea, and the resultant workaround you encouraged, is frankly, quite elegant.
