    altec 816 A bass horns

    Hello all!Picked up 4 of these over the weekend.No drivers but the price was right,free!Lets just say they have been roadtested to be nice about it!Are these any good?would it be worth getting drivers for these?Don't really know what i would do with them,i'd have to get some horns to match.Any input is apprecated!thanks

    Clean them up and make them solid...

    Then get a pair of Altec 416 or 515 drivers.

    Properly loaded they can work wonders for the mid bass region. Scott has 4 of them in his system.

    They're Worth It...

    The 816 works pretty well in the mid-band especially.

    Your best choice for these would be used Altec 515-G series or new Iconic Mfg. Co. Model 165-series woofers.

    Both are optimized for use in bas horns, and are especially well behaved in the midband.
