What model speaker is this ????

I recently purchased these 15" speakers which I believe are JBL, However there are no part numbers or Logos. Can anyone identify which model these are??

Thanks in advance for your help.

Either a LE15/2115, or a 2231. Need to see a shot from the side (so that I can see the magnet from the side) to tell for sure.

Also, what's that number stamped on the cone?

    Regards,
    Gordon.

Number on the cone is 50320. Also attached is the picture from the side.
Any Idea which type speaker these are out of?

    Thanks

I don't believe the LE15 have the hole at the back of the magnet.

It's also apparently got the thin (.281") magnet top plate, from the look of it. Educated guess says it's a 2231A or 136A.

2231As were used in several models... IIRC, later-model L300s, early-model 4343s, among other applications. The current 2235H is a ceramic-magnet version of the same speaker, with a slightly upgraded cone assembly.

Of course, it could be something like a D130 frame, that's been reconed as a foam-edge speaker... in that case, it would ACT like either a 2231/136A or a 2234/2235, depending on which kit is in it.

Best thing, would be to have it measured for Theile-Small parameters, with a system such as SoundEasy, LMS, or the like. Then, you should be able to back-track from those parameters to determine which cone kit is in it...

    Regards,
    Gordon.

    Yup,

    LE15A is indeed ventless....

50320 makes that a 2235 cone assembly. just to be sure inspect the back of cone for a white or pale yellow chalk used to write the actual kit # such as 2231 or 2235. It will be very faint but with a strong light you will be able to read it.

That looks to be D130/140 frame assembly repainted, with a 2235 recone kit installed. The reconer must've taken off the label to repaint the frame/magnet....maybe the label was destroyed in the process, or didn't know how to remove it cleanly...or maybe it was a basket-case speaker resurrected...only the speaker knows for sure.

The LE15/2215 has no vent in the center of the magnet. All the 136's I've seen have black frame/magnet. 2231 has more of a squared off profile to the magnet.
