    Daylight savings

The talk at the coffee shop this weekend was daylight savings time changes.....spring ahead......fall back. Someone heard that the Canadian government was considering increasing the time change to 2 hours ahead in the spring and 2 hours back in the fall. This decision is based on the fact that having 2 hours more of daylight will save energy.

Has anyone in the USA heard of this happening there ?

In the Energy Bill just passed, we will be starting it earlier and ending it later beginning in 2007, I believe it is. Total addition, about 1 month.

Perhaps we COULD kick it to two hours in the middle, if you guys insist.

Somehow, I doubt the livestock care. They've ALWAYS run on Guelph time....

I think everyone should be on Greenwich Mean Time, (all aviation is based on this). That way, when someone says "call at 7" it means the same for everyone. If people want to start their day earlier, just let them start at 6 instead of 7.

On another note - I think the calendar should be thirteen 28-day months, with an extra day at the end of the year. That way, the same day of the month would always be the same date of the month.

Of course, all this makes too much sense to ever be put into place...

Hey John!! shorter months is a bad idea cuz sometimes I get ( and rely ) on that extra 5 pay cheque month

Other than that, GMT would be a great idea!!!!!

Here in southern CA, there is a bit of a movement to keep Daylight Savings Time year round. I have wished for that for years. When it ends in the fall, the days are already growing short, and the beginning of Daylight Wasting Time feels like the end of the world- dark at 5PM. Opponents complain of kids waiting in the dark in the morning for the school bus; I say give the little b*****ds flashlights! B^)

Now that is a sick joke... a welfare program for deserving billionaires! The daylight savings time change, as minimal as it is, was probably the most significant "improvement" made...

    We get what we deserve.

If we had 13 months, would they cut my salary?

Naw - you'd just always get your checks on the same date/day of the month...

You can pay off your mortgage in half the time if you make 13 payments per year.

    [A BIG plus.... ]
