    2216Nd vs JW300PG-8 Looking to build a 2-way

Hello all! I'm new around here, and hope you don't mind me starting out looking for some advice:

JBL 4349 has the 12inch JW300PG-8 crossed over at 1.5 kHz.
The JBL M2 and S4700 are both crossed at 800 Hz

    Two Questions:
    1) Is the JW300PG-8 unobtanium? If not, how much does it cost, and where can I get it? How does it compare to the 2216Nd (apart from being a 12incher)
    2) How high can you cross the 2216Nd 15 in Woofer (not the -1) version? Could it make it to 1-1.2 kHz?

I'm looking to pair either woofer with Eighteen Sound NSD1424BTN in a XT1464 (60x50 horn) in a 2-way.

Other woofer considerations are the Faital Pro 15PR400 or the Acoustic Elegance 15M, the former being a bit cheaper and the latter, a tad more pricey.
    I would love some criticisms/suggestions.

    Hello

    I would look the here:

    http://www.audioheritage.org/vbullet...p?33565-2216Nd

Based on that and my own measurements I think you would be pushing things a bit. I crossed mine over @ 700Hz and look at the peak at 3k. It's actually not bad up to 1k but after that it gets a bit ragged.

I used and 18dB network and was concerned if I had the 3K peak down far enough which is one of the reasons I am at 700 Hz and I got the best transition there.

You could certainly try especially if you are using DSP but in a passive network I wouldn't.

I've been experimenting a little bit the last few days with the 2216nd crossed to 18sound 4015BE and I have to say that crossing the 2216 over at above 800 isn't really recommended. There's a clear penalty of clarity in doing so, the driver is just not optimized for the higher ranges.
For me there was an obvious benefit of reducing the crossover frequency to below 700 hz.

Why not use the 18Sound recommendation of 800 hertz on that horn and driver.

Crossover with 24 dB or a 36 dB per octave slope dsp based network and your done.

This is also a very capable driver. Also available in neo magnetic.
