    silicone

Has anyone used any silicone based products to glue surrounds to baskets and spiders to baskets, or what are your favorite glues you have had the most success with?

Whatever you do, do NOT use silicone adhesive on a speaker basket, ANYWHERE. Silicone will leave a residue, that NO ADHESIVE will stick to, afterwards. Basically, once a basket has silicone on it, there's no alternative than to STRIP the basket DOWN TO THE METAL, before it could be reconed again afterwards. Not something that ANYONE should be doing.

I mean, if you're not going to use the factory JBL adhesives as listed above, I'd rather see you using stuff like automotive weatherstip adhesive, contact cement, epoxy, superglue, if necessary... anything BUT silicone. All those can be re-adhered to, without the trauma of a silicone-exorcism...

    Regards,
    Gordon.

Well stated Gordon . My experience exactly from re-repairing "repairs".
