    Smile Lunkers and pipes

Here's a store/restaurant I used to visit on my trips from Chicago to Kalamazoo.

    http://www.lunkers.com/

Lunker has a different meaning in German.

    http://www.giessereilexikon.de/index...ckcmd=LIST/310

In English, lunker translates from German as "pipe" more or less meaning a cavity in metal. But these guys mean Ein lunker ist ein Spielfisch, der ist groß für seine Art.

It grew out of my graduate work in literature. You can't really study the roots of English (Anglo-Saxon "Old English" which is descended from West Saxon Germanic dialects) without getting a good workout in German.

Also, my dad's (second) wife grew up in Germany and was a teenager during Hitler's time. She's much more comfortable speaking German, although my dad doesn't understand any of it. When they visit Germany, as they did for two months this summer, he says, "I don't understand a g*dd*mn thing from the time I get there until I get the h*ll out." He's a WWII veteran who "visited" North Africa, Italy, and Germany during the war, so he's still a little hard on Europe in general. Yet he married a German woman and loves her dearly.

    Hi Marbo

Im currently located in Perth, the big desert, bloody hot & dry or cold & wet. Had the big split with the missus after 18yrs so it looks like I'll be heading back home to the Gold Coast. So where in Aust are you.
You arent located in Melbourne are you, lots of major fires there recently, unless you are in Tassy, show us your scars.
Should hook up on my next trip over East, we certainly share 1 of your favourite things to do & I would certainly love to be able to play the other.

    Cheers Wayne.

North east Missouri....Sitting on the edge of Mark Twain Lake....Peaceful & quiet.....When I open my doors & turn up the volume of Mahlers Ressurection, The sound rolls across the lake. The deer perk up there ears, The eagles take flight.....What a site to see.

    Hi, Maron,

My Mom's family was from the Little Dixie area (Shelby County), I grew up on a farm near Macon. Used to fish the Little Salt with my Granpa when I was a kid (before the lake). Lots of arrowheads and artifacts in that area's glacial drift too.

Hoping to head back your way for a 20yr school reunioin in March man time flies. Work might be a problem, but ive already had good offers over East so I just might have to check them out a little closer, there's some girly's there I just have to catch up with.

    Cheers, Wayne.

Moldyoldy.....After all the drive by shootings , Mayham, Rapeings, robbings, boogerings, and other activities of St Louis, We decided to find quieter surroundings. Now we have the occasional Drunks or drugies drowning in The Mark Twain Lake.
