    Far-out Off Topic

Just finished 5-nights outside Santa Fe on this Verona 24-frame desk, and it's coming home to me.

For the gig, I was on-stage, lead singing through a Shure PSM600 and a pair of E5's - and these Midas pre's are simply the BEST I have ever worked with. Wow. Any artist would be plenty, plenty happy.

Oldmics - I know it's only a 24-frame, but it's perfect for my little sound company...

    Did I say ?

More pics when the desk arrives...

    Red face Sorry 'bout that

Oh, all right. Yours is better.

That really is an impressive rig. Can't wait to see more.

And yes, I really do own that Samson. It's more than enough for my garage work.

    Size Doesn"t Matter !!!!

I prefer the Midas but they wanted the 4K for this event.

    Hey, Oldmics...

Now I know why you're a pro - your Rider has that Picket Fence thingy. I knew I was forgetting something!

    And, awaiting word - thanks!

    "My Verona..."

Shipped-in today. Spent 3-hrs in the shop "moving in".

I will never, ever again, discount the importance of really high-grade (high cost ) filters. It certainly matters in all the projects we do here on the LHS for our in-home listening, but I hoped it would be not so noticable in full sound support applications.

    Lies... The ears know.

In a word, I am stunned. The sound quality is FAR beyond what I expected. Here in the shop, I am running the desk straight through into a QSC CX502 to a pair of SRX712M's. Absolutely flat EQ (nothing on the strips, and the rack DN370 is bypassed), and I have no need for nuthing. Nothing! Wow. Clear, crisp, coherent, warm. This is the first time the system has even approached (and maybe equalled) the sound quality of my pro audio home set-up (those beloved 4345's fed through an Adcom, DN370 and pairs of QSC's). And, these are only wedges I'm using - with no EQ. Lordy-lordy...

As I said, I will never, ever again discount the importance of high quality filters, and whether the ear can tell. The ear can tell - even to the "pedestrian" (non audiophile) audience. They may not be able to completely describe what they hear, but they sure recognize coherent, warm natural sound in a heartbeat.

    A new chapter for SOUNDsupport...

    Hey Bo...

From a musicians's perspective....your singer's are going to love you and your new board. It makes singing on stage alot more effortless and fun when you've got a great mixer for the monitors....and like you said...the audience will enjoy the show more too....everybody wins.

    Hey, man - thanks.

That was exactly my personal experience on this desk two-weeks ago. I was lead in a crummy little gig outside Santa Fe. Using the Shure E5's. I have never, ever, in 30-years with that band been so satifsied and in awe of the sound of my vocals. I sang better, and stronger with no vocal strain for 6- consecutive nights. Wow. I know I had better sound than anyone FOH!!!

What I was doing tonight was a brutally honest, no crap tastetest. It was amazing - and through wedges.

I can't wait to roll this out as FOH engineer. We've got some big gigs coming, and I'll be dancing at FOH, that's for sure...

Not To Pee in the Punch Bowl

    Bo,

Once you drag that sucker out to F.O.H. and get used to what it can do,you will NEVER be satisfied with anything of lesser quality.

Its like you gotta have it.I think the term is "gear snob".

    So congrats and enjoy.
