    enclosure magic

I have some questions regarding enclosure design.
I have noticed that for a given driver in a series of enclosure designs, that, while maintaining Fb, while increasing Vb and keeping a circular port diameter constant, port length decreases.
    For example
    LE10A
    Fb 32Hz
    Vb 1.6 cu ft
    Port dia 3.0"
    Port length 9.1 "

    contrast this with:
    LE10A
    Fb 32
    Vb 2.1 cu ft
    Port dia 3.0"
    Port length 6.2

The larger box allows a shorter ductand it appears that group delay is somewhat reduced. Is there an acoustic downside to this?

I can not think of one. In fact, longer ports are more likely to cause problems if the length exceeds the diameter by a factor of 3 or more.
