Increased Cabinet Volume

IF I were to use a spare set of cabinets for speaker stands, and join (air-tight)the volumes of each, would the "Effective" cabinet volume double, for a lower LF response? Like join two 1.6 CF cabinets, then port for 3.2 CF. @ desired frequency. (2213 LF Drivers)

Interesting question. Can it be done? Yes.
I'll assume that you're using a 2213H. here are some plots I ran for it. This is using bassboxpro with the extended bass vented cabinet option, no external network taken into consideration.

"Join" how is the question? The communication between them gotta be better than "symbolic," so they act as one volume, of course.

You'll notice the port sizing indicated here. A 4" port roughly 11 1/8 " long.
to achieve an Fb of 26.47 Hz.

I think it is best if the upper chamber is twice the size of the lower one, but tuning the ports is spread over a range of frequencies instead of one.

Thanks hector.murray for the plots. I have the 2213 (not H) but I get the idea. Zilch, for the "Joining", one method could be a pair of threaded pipe nipples, through both cabinets, with threaded flanges and gaskets (or acid-free silicone sealer). I could make two small pilot holes in one cabinet, and use them to spot the holes in the joining cabinet. Enlarge all of them for the nipples to pass tightly through. Crank down the flanges and they should be tight together. Space permitting, I could use at least a 4" nipple (two of them would be double the port dia.). The port could be a 4" PVC plumbing elbow/straight sections to allow for the length. This set-up might be something "Red Green" would do, but I would "Keep my stick on the ice" just the same...

The air's gotta move unrestricted between the chambers. The entire area of the bottom surface may already be too small....
